Who we are

Our Story

RCC has been a part of the greater Reston community since 2002 when a core group of faithful believers planted a new church, called History Church, in Reston Town Center. For several years History Church continued to grow, meeting in several locations in the Reston area including the theater in Reston Town Center.

In 2010, with a vision for greater engagement with the people of Reston, History Church was renamed and replanted as Reston Community Church and began gathering at Dogwood Elementary School. This location allowed for greater stability and deeper engagement with some of the most marginalized people in our community. Through partnerships with Southgate Community Center (Cathy Hudgins), RCC began serving and ministering directly to families in the Glade Drive corridor of Reston and continued to grow.

By the Spring of 2020 RCC had seen significant growth and, as schools closed their doors due to the COVID-19 pandemic,  RCC began meeting online. As religious gathering restrictions began to lift in 2021, RCC began looking for a new space to gather as a church. An existing relationship with Southview Community Church led to an opportunity for a new meeting space and even greater partnership in the local area. An agreement to share facility space was created, and in 2021 Reston Community Church resumed its in-person gatherings at a new meeting time of 4:30pm in the shared space with SCC just off of Reston Parkway.

Since the pandemic, RCC has continued to stand on the pillars that were a part of her initial planting. We are a bible-based, gospel-centered church that exists to make and mature followers of Jesus by displaying and declaring the gospel to the world around us.

Simply put - we are a community of people who gather to glorify Jesus, serve His people, and love the cities and neighborhoods He has placed us in.

Our Values

Scripture

RCC is a Bible-based church where teaching from Scripture is central to our Sunday gatherings. Our aim is not only to inform or inspire but also to see lives transformed and believers grow into maturity through God’s Word. We believe in an unchanging God, and that conviction shapes how we relate to Him as we learn from the truths revealed in Scripture.

Worship

At RCC, worship is more than what happens on Sunday — it’s an “all of life” response to who God is and what He has done. We gather each week to sing, pray, and hear God’s Word together, and we also celebrate the sacraments of communion and baptism as visible reminders of the gospel. Our desire is that both in gathered worship and in daily life, everything we do would bring glory to God.

Mission

We believe the good news of Jesus is too good to keep to ourselves. That’s why we seek to live on mission, displaying and declaring the gospel in our everyday lives. Whether it’s in our neighborhoods, workplaces, or around the world, we want to share God’s love in both word and action.

Community

Life was never meant to be lived alone. At RCC, we pursue authentic community where people can be known, encouraged, and supported as they follow Jesus. Through community groups and genuine relationships, we seek to grow together in faith, carry each other’s burdens, and celebrate God’s work in our lives.
